M-Tech supplies a comprehensive range of sludge and liquid sampling equipment manufactured by Nasco in the USA. The most popular of these is the Sludge Judge® range of samplers, designed to take accurate reading of settled solids, 5% or less, in a variety of liquids. Available as the Sludge Judge®, Sludge Judge® Ultra super strong and Sludge Judge® II large capacity, it is ideal for sewerage treatment plants, chemical plants and food processing facilities. The Sludge Judge® is made up from detachable 5' long sections which screw together. The basic unit ships with three sections, making up a 15' sampler, but additional extensions sections are available if a longer length is required. The Sludge Judge® and Sludge Judge® Ultra hold 1 oz per foot (89ml per 0.31m) and the Sludge Judge® II holds 6oz per foot (171ml per 0.31m). |
Using the Sludge Judge® couldn't be easier:
- Slowly lower the Sludge Judge® to the bottom of the tank.
- The check valve opens, allowing materials to flow in. When the bottom has been reached and the pipe has filled to the surface level, tug slightly on the rope as the unit is raised.
- This sets the check valve, trapping the mixture inside.
- When the unit has been raised clear of the liquid, the amount of solids in the sample can be read using the 1 ft., 0.31 m increments marked on the pipe sections.
- To release the material in the unit, touch the pin extending from the bottom section against a hard surface. This opens the check valve to drain the sample.
Also available for the Sludge Judge® are a 6' cleaning brush to aid cleaning the unit after use and a cotton carry case, which holds four sections and the cleaning brush.
