CHROMagar Listeria
CHROMagar Listeria a chromogenic media for isolation of specimens allowing direct differenciation of Listeria monocytogenes by blue colony colour with a white halo. This chromogenic culture media is based on phospholipases specific to Listeria monocytogenes.
Enrich with Faser 1/2 and Fraser 1 broths, incubate for 48h at 37ºC then streak onto CHROMagar Listeria plate and incubate for 24h at 37ºC. This technique provides a rapid and reliable method for detection of Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes are readilly distinguishable as blue colonies with a surrounding white halo. Other bacterial species are either inhibited or give colourless or blue colonies WITHOUT the white halo. Individual colonies (presumptive) Listeria monocytogenes visible on the agar can be studied directly by aditional tests for confirmation and epidermiological study. Results can be read under normal lighting conditions.
